THE TEAM NEWS

CANTERBURY KINGS

  • Canterbury Kings have won five of their last six games in the Super Smash with that run of form ensuring that they finished in second spot on the ladder which sets up this Eliminator with Wellington Firebirds.
  • The consistency that they have shown of late should help them come into this with plenty of confidence, especially after chasing down 186 to win in their last contest against Otago Volts, and they look in a good place with Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell doing well since returning from international duty.

WELLINGTON FIREBIRDS

  • Wellington Firebirds could not overcome Super Smash finalists Northern Brave as they succumbed to a second loss in three matches, both of which came against the Brave, and now they must put those defeats behind them if they wish to join them in the final.
  • The Firebirds are more than capable of prevailing here but there are some doubts regarding the quality of their bowling line-up and it could be down to the likes of the tournament’s top-scorer, Michael Bracewell, to lead the assault with the bat.

THE PREDICTION

This should be a superb Eliminator between Canterbury Kings and Wellington Firebirds as the duo aim to join Northern Brave in the final of the Super Smash. Both teams are capable of prevailing but the Kings look to be the stronger of the two and their form of late suggests that they are in a good place. They have won five of their last six and with their batting line-up looking extremely strong, Canterbury can do what is required to book their spot in the final.
