THE TEAM NEWS

OMAN

  • Oman could not overcome the loss of frequent wickets as they fell short in their quest to chase down 154 in their game with Bangladesh and that defeat means that only a win will give them any realistic hope of progressing to the next stage.
  • Jatinder Singh performed admirably once again with the bat as he scored 40 runs for Oman but the lack of support around him ultimately proved costly as they suffered a 26-run loss to leave their future participation in this tournament hanging in the balance.

SCOTLAND

  • Scotland made it back-to-back wins to open their account in the T20 World Cup and their fate is very much in their own hands with the Scots knowing that their victory over Papua New Guinea means even a loss here could still be enough to progress.
  • Richie Berrington was the key man as he put his poor effort against Bangladesh behind him by whacking 70 from just 49 deliveries to lead his side to a 17-run success, although the Scots may need to be better with the ball in this trickier contest.

THE PREDICTION

It is all to play for in this final Group B game as Oman and Scotland go head-to-head. The Scots top the group after two matches having won both of their encounters while Oman couldn’t build on their opening round win as they fell short in their quest to topple Bangladesh last time out. It means Oman need to win this clash and should Bangladesh see off Papua New Guinea, the two to advance in the tournament will be decided by the superior net run rate. There is little to choose between the two teams and it could go either way but with back-to-back wins under their belt, Scotland can do just enough to extend their stay in the competition.
