IRELAND STUN PAKISTAN TO TAKE SERIES LEAD
In one of the biggest surprise results in bilateral cricket for a long time, Ireland defeated Pakistan in the first T20i between these two nations on Friday. Chasing 183 to win, most would have expected the Pakistan bowlers to shut the door on the hosts. But Ireland put in a magnificent batting display, chasing their victory target down with five wickets and one ball to spare, Andrew Balbirnie top scoring with 77 at the top of the order.
CAN REELING PAKISTAN RESPOND IN SECOND MATCH
All eyes will be on Pakistan and what they have in response to that shock defeat in the opening T20i. Losing three wickets in the space of an over whilst batting first no doubt had a key impact in them setting a score of less than 200, which ultimately proved to be pivotal. After taking two wickets in the powerplay, Pakistan let their grip on the game slip and they cannot afford to be as careless this time around.
THE PREDICTION
The pressure is now on the tourists to show that the result on Friday was a one-off. Irish tails will understandably be up and they will give Pakistan a real run for their money. If Pakistan are off the pace, it would be no surprise to see them beaten again. But the expectation is that we will see a stronger, more clinical performance from Babar Azam’s side that leads to them levelling the series.
TIP: PAKISTAN TO WIN
