• Adelaide Strikers made a poor start to the Big Bash League but produced the goods when it mattered most, winning their last four matches and five of their last six to book their spot in the knockout phase of the competition.
• Their latest success was arguably their most impressive of this edition of the tournament to date, claiming an eight-wicket victory against Sydney Sixers to really highlight their credentials.

HOBART HURRICANES

• Hobart Hurricanes’ inconsistency was evident once again as they were unable to make it three straight wins ahead of the knockout stages, instead suffering a humiliating 106-run loss to the already-eliminated Melbourne Stars.
• The Hurricanes will now need to turn it on if they are to remain in the competition and while they can, their ability to produce back-to-back efforts remains in serious doubt and that could prove to be their downfall.

THE PREDICTION

Adelaide Strikers will fancy their chances of going all the way in the Big Bash League as they enter the knockout stages as one of the most impressive teams based on recent form. They had languished towards the foot of the ladder for much of the tournament but have turned things around in spectacular fashion to finish in fourth. They come into this Eliminator on the back of a four-game winning streak and with opponents Hobart Hurricanes conceding 273 runs in their last outing against Melbourne Stars, the Strikers look set to be too good and should move onto the next phase of the tournament.
