THE PREDICTION

With the Sky cameras set to descend upon Cardiff, it would be a shame if the weather was to have the final say in what should be an intriguing contest between Glamorgan and Yorkshire. Indeed, the elements were largely responsible for the reverse fixture at Emerald Headingley on the opening round of the season finishing a draw, despite Glamorgan dominating large parts of that match. Since then, Yorkshire have won three and drawn one of their following four County Championship matches, although Glamorgan are coming off the back of a two-match unbeaten run having followed up victory over Kent with a rain-affected draw away at Lancashire.

Whilst forecasted bad weather over the four days opens up the distinct possibility of a draw in this match, an exciting contest is in prospect should the two teams manage to take the field for an extended period of play. Much you feel will come down to the international gun batters that both these sides possess. Whilst Glamorgan boasts Australian number three Marnus Labuschagne within their ranks, England Test captain Joe Root will line-up for the White Rose. Root will do battle once again with his brother Billy, who scored in century for Glamorgan at Emerald Headingley back in April. Providing Yorkshire dismiss Labuschagne early on for little runs, their deeper batting line-up and all-round strength in depth should see them to victory here, although you fear the rain may prevent them from taking those all-important 20 wickets.
