Kandy Royals’ bowlers gave up too many runs vs Dambulla Sixers last time out, conceding 205 runs which left their batters with too much to do, ultimately winding up 18 runs adrift. Colombo Kaps meanwhile could not make use of home advantage against Galle Gallants, losing by five wickets to the opening day winners.
However, Kusal Mendis’ side could find it easy to put runs on the board this time round as they take on a weaker bowling attack based on what we’ve seen in the competition so far. Mendis has started well with 79 against Galle but needs better support. Dropping two from two in Colombo before the Dambulla leg of the tournament would be a disaster for the Kaps and in front of their own fans, expect a strong response as Kandy Royals struggle to stem the flow of runs once again, which may prove their demise for a second match running.
