It’s been a struggle so far in Group A for Colombia, who simply cannot stop their opponents from scoring runs and their batters have been unable to match that production, leaving them 0-2 following defeats to both Puerto Rico and Canada. The loss to the former was a shutout after a nightmare fifth inning saw them give up all five runs over the course of the game as Seth Lugo kept the Colombians off the board.

Cuba looks like they contain that clutch gene and most importantly from their point of view, one of their key players has begun the tournament strongly. Third baseman Yoan Moncada hit a crucial two-run home run in their 3-1 victory over Panama whilst the pitching was outstanding throughout, both the starter Livan Moinelo and the bullpen. If Cuba continue to pitch at that high standard and the likes of Moncada stay hot, then Cuba are expected to get the better of a Colombia team likely low on the confidence at this point.
