Coleman Wong kept his run in New York going as he beat Adam Walton in four sets to advance to the third-round. Wong was close to sealing the match in straights, having broken the Australian to go 4-3 up in the third set, but his serve deserted him as he was broken on three consecutive occasions to lose the set and go a break down in the fourth. Wong regrouped brilliantly and fought back to win 7-6 6-2 4-6 6-4.
Andrey Rublev dropped his first set of the tournament but still defeated Tristan Boyer in his second-round match. The Russian was tested by Boyer after the first two sets, winning 6-3 6-3 5-7 7-6 after two hours and 55 minutes. It was a mixed display overall, with 62 winners and 49 unforced errors, but he has now reached the third-round of the US Open for the seventh time in a row.
Wong has enjoyed a fine tournament but it is likely to come to an end against Rublev, whose aggressive game may overwhelm the world number 173.
