THE LOWDOWN

Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez (56-1-2) steps back into the ring for the final time in 2021 as he takes on Caleb Plant with four world titles on the line. Canelo possesses three of those in the form of the WBC, WBA and WBO world super middleweight titles and he will be confident of adding the IBF crown to his collection. Canelo forced Billy Joe Saunders to retire last time out and the man who is regarded by many as the pound-for-pound king will be confident of recording his 57th career success.

Caleb Plant (21-0) will face the tough fight of his career to date but the unbeaten American appears to hold no fear. He will need more than belief if he is to beat Canelo though and while he has accounted for some tricky opponents, none possess the quality of his opponent in this bout. There are question marks regarding his weight as well as his power which could be a huge issue against such a tough rival.

THE PREDICTION

Caleb Plant has done a lot of talking in the build-up to this bout with Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez but the Mexican could make him pay here. Canelo looks a class above his unbeaten opponent having lost just one of his 59 career bouts and with the chance to add yet another world title to his already impressive collection, the 31-year-old should be able to mark his 60th pro fight with a stoppage to become the undisputed world champion.
