The overwhelming favourites to win the entire tournament come into this match after a rare defeat as the USA lost their last group match against Lithuania. They were made to pay for a slow start in that encounter and that is something coach Steve Kerr will insist does not happen again here versus the Italians. The Europeans will be fired up as heavy underdogs to try surprise the favourites but they may just be meeting them at the wrong time.
