THE TEAM NEWS

SAMOA

  • Samoa bounced back from losing all three of their Group A matches by completing a clean sweep of victories in the preliminaries stage two with a win over Singapore sealing top spot in Group E.
  • The Samoans proved too good for Singapore as they defeated them by a margin of 14 points in what was a relatively comfortable victory with Toa Tanimo once again proving to be the star.
  • She scored 45 goals from her 48 attempts for a superb success rate of 94% to take her tally of goals for the tournament to 125 whilst Afi Lafaiali’i-Sapolu has provided 84 assists so far.

FIJI

  • Fiji rounded off their Group E campaign at the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup with a win over Sri Lanka thanks to two strong middle quarters which were enough to ensure they claimed the win.
  • The Fijians have been reliant on Lydia Panapasa all tournament but Unaisi Rauluni and Matila Vocea stepped up in this game as they combined for 54 of their side’s 59 goals against Sri Lanka.
  • Rualuni’s 29 goals took her tally for the tournament to 95 whilst she now has 92 assists to her name which has highlighted her brilliant all-round ability as well as being an integral part of this Fijian team.

THE PREDICTION

Both Samoa and Fiji were handed tough draws in their initial groups as they failed to win a game between them but bounced back well in the stage two preliminaries. They won both of their games when not facing each other and the Group E contest between the two was a superb affair as Samoa edged it by a single point. Another close game is expected here and it could go either way but the Samoans can just edge it once again.
