THE TEAM NEWS

BARBADOS

  • Barbados have ended up where they would have expected at the World Cup with them failing to spring any surprises and they have just one victory to their name so far thanks to their opening win over Singapore.
  • Barbados have lost five games since and now face Scotland in the 11-12 match but their last game against Northern Ireland will give them something to build on after losing that game by just three points.
  • Shonica Wharton has been the standout player for Barbados and will again be key here as she looks to add to her total of 128 goals whilst Amanda Knight will be tasked with providing the assists having set up 58 so far.

SCOTLAND

  • Scotland have had a disappointing tournament at the 2019 Vitality Netball World Cup and will have to settle for a spot in the 11-12 match against Barbados after only managing a single win so far.
  • That victory came against Samoa in their opening game but since then they have lost four and then ended their campaign in Group G of the stage two preliminaries with a draw against Trinidad and Tobago.
  • After failing to live up to their pre-tournament hype, Scotland will point to their inability to score goals with any of their players yet to reach three-figures although Lynsey Gallagher is just six shy and can hit that mark in this final game.

THE PREDICTION

Scotland have been one of the big disappointments at this World Cup and even a win here in their 11-12 match with Barbados will not mask how poor they have been. They have underachieved and not lived up to expectations with them only managing to secure one victory so far. They are big favourites to win this clash with Barbados and should be able to claim just their second win of the tournament but will need to show a big improvement on their efforts so far.
