FPL Gameweek 10 – Team TSZ
This season, we’ve pooled our (self-proclaimed) collective genius together to form ‘Team TSZ’, a fearsome squad of fantasy point machines who will gun for glory in our very own FPL mini-league.
Decisions will be made collectively after polite discussion. ‘Team TSZ’ consists of:
Rob Esteva – Managing Director
Trystan Pugh – Sports Content Manager
Tim Blackwell – Chief Sports Data Scientist
So how did we get on in Gameweek 9?
Last Gameweek’s Points

GW points: 44
GW average: 43
GW rank: 2,689,661
Overall rank: 476,777 (▲)
Let's be honest, Gameweek 9 was a drab affair for nearly all involved, and nothing typifies that more than the fact that our meagre total of 44 points produced a green arrow. It was an incredibly small gain, but it was an improvement nonetheless. We remain just inside the top 500k - which is hardly setting the world alight - but we're at least ahead of Fantasy Football Scout Hall of Fame #1 Jay Egersdorff...

Then again, we've got a long way to go if we are to match Jay's season history...

Enough fanboying. Our leading lights in GW9 were Trippier, Salah, Aguero and Mitrovic, whereas the rest of the lads seemed to have a week off. Kudos to Rob for insisting on Salah as captain whilst the masses where siding with Aguero. It was a small gain of two points, but every little counts, and we were thankfully spared the scenes that Alex Sarwar prophecised...

We also rose two places to 34th in our own mini-league as our slow but steady ascent from mediocrity continues.

Sometimes, doing nothing is the best approach. Either that or we're getting lazy, and we're also a man down again this week...
After the harsh words from @robesteva and @TrystanPugh last week I've decided to take a one week sabbatical from @thestatszone TeamTSZ in order to demonstrate my worth

See you Monday morning when the dust settles... #FPL #Blackwellnecessary #GW10
Tim's hilarious attempt to get #Blackwellnecessary trending aside, the pressure is on me and Rob to hold the fort in his absence and we've decided to give last week's troops another runout. The captaincy staying on Salah was pretty much a no-brainer given that he's looked sharper recently and, of course, the fact that Liverpool are playing Cardiff, who are awful.
Rolling a transfer is always appealing though, giving us two freebies for GW11 when we should have a full complement of decision makers.
Other issues discussed in this afternoon's two-man summit:
- Rotating keepers. We're not loving the approach of throwing poor Joe Hart in goal during this tough run of Burnley fixtures, and although they ease up a little after the visit of Chelsea, we're considering two £4.5m keepers in the future to give us more options.
- Whether we should switch Hojbjerg and Tarkowski around on our bench. Yeah, that wasn't a thrilling discussion.
- Our views on the upcoming Great British Bake Off final.
Just kidding! We do have a life. We'd much rather spend our time talking about fantasy football.
Update: Ignore all of that stuff about saving a transfer. We've gone hell for leather with a bold Trippier > Robertson transfer late in the day!
