FIFA 19 eSports – News Round-Up

In our weekly round-up here at The Stats Zone, we’re looking at the biggest talking points currently within the FIFA eSports scene. These may range from player transfers, online/offline tournament announcements, tournament results and more.

TOURNAMENT ANNOUNCEMENTS

The complete list of nations for next month’s inaugural FIFA eNations Cup has been announced and the draw for the group stages has been unveiled by FIFA. A total of 20 nations will compete in five groups of five and compete in both 1v1 and 2v2 matches, with the top two nations from each group advancing to the quarter-final stages.

The FIFA eNations Cup takes place on the weekend of April 13-14th in London.

Tickets are also still available for this weekend’s Gfinity FIFA Series at the Gfinity Arena in London. This will be the fifth official LQE of the FIFA 19 season and will feature all the top-ranked players in the world today such as F2 Tekkz, Nicolas99fc, PSV StefanoPinna and reigning world champion Msdossary. DOMESTIC FIXTURES & RESULTS

The final round of Virtual Bundesliga fixtures were completed last Wednesday and the top three clubs in the table marked the occasion with identical winning scorelines. Already crowned champions Werder Bremen celebrated their coronation with a 7-1 thrashing of Bayer Leverkusen. Second-placed VfB Stuttgart and third-placed Borussia Mönchengladbach also enjoyed 7-1 victories over Holstein Kiel and FC Ingolstadt 04 respectively. Last Thursday saw round four of the Australian E-League take place and it was a great round for Melbourne Victory. Not only did they defeat Brisbane Roar 13-7 to further establish themselves at the top of the table, they also made history, with the Victory’s Mouad Zwed scoring the fastest goal in Australian E-League history! It took the Xbox One player only ten seconds to open the scoring against Brisbane’s Ozilla.

Other results saw Sydney FC go down 12-5 to Melbourne City in a star-studded clash that pitted Marcus Gomes up against FUTWIZ Marko. Gomes did the damage, an 11-3 thumping of Nfamous_Shadow8 left Marko too much to do if Sydney wanted to turn the tie around. He defeated Saisanas 2-1, but of course that was nowhere near enough. There were also wins for Western Sydney Wanderers and Adelaide United, with the Wanderers beating Wellington Phoenix 10-8, whilst United took out Perth Glory 9-5.

ELSEWHERE

We reported last week on FUTWIZ’s Jamie O’Doherty being rushed to hospital in Singapore during the FUT Champions Cup March due to a collapsed lung. We’re delighted to see that Jamie is now firmly on the mend and enjoying his downtime. We look forward to seeing him back in the E-League and Global Series picture very soon when he returns home to Australia.
