THE TEAM NEWS

RICHMOND

  • Richmond Tigers made it three wins in a row as they produced a solid display to see off GWS Giants to leapfrog their opponents on the ladder and solidify their spot in the race for the finals.
  • The Tigers have been rocked by the news that youngster Jack Higgins has a bleed on the brain which will mean that the forward will be missing for the foreseeable future as a result.
  • Fellow youngster Derek Eggmolesse-Smith is in danger of missing out this week after a shaky display in what was his second game last week and following another strong outing in the VFL, Josh Caddy may have done enough to earn a recall.

PORT ADELAIDE

  • Port Adelaide Power suffered defeat against Brisbane Lions last time out in what was a blow to their hopes of making the finals as their issues with consistency continue with their L-W sequence now stretching to nine games.
  • Ryan Burton and Brad Ebert will be missing for the Power with hamstring and knee injuries respectively whilst Ollie Wines also looks unlikely to take to the field due to a fractured thumb.
  • Port Adelaide should have Dan Houston back in the mix this week after he was sidelined with a virus last week whilst Xavier Duursma is also likely to be recalled after he was a surprising omission for the game with the Lions.

THE PREDICTION

Richmond come into this clash with Port Adelaide in good form and will fancy their chances of making it four wins in a row as they host one of the teams trying to break into the top 8. The Power are currently outside of the finals placings with their inconsistency really damaging them recently and they must put a winning run together to give themselves the best chance of ensuring their season does not finish earlier. However, Richmond should have too much for them here with the win able to give them some breathing space over the chasing pack.
