THE TEAM NEWS

FREMANTLE

  • Fremantle lost their fourth game in a row when they went down to Hawthorn Hawks in their last contest as their hopes of making the finals continue to fade with this encounter with Sydney Swans realistically becoming a must-win game.
  • The Dockers have made four changes to the team that lost to Hawthorn with newly re-signed defender Griffin Logue back in the side whilst follower Aaron Sandilands is also back.
  • They are joined by Taylin Duman and Brett Bewley but Nat Fyfe is a big loss after suffering from an infected elbow and is joined on the sidelines by Ryan Nyhuis, Travis Coyler and Ethan Hughes who are all dropped.

SYDNEY SWANS

  • Sydney Swans lost a second consecutive game as the finals begin to look out of reach but a win here against Fremantle may give them a glimmer of hope in what will be a much-changed side.
  • The Swans are without the suspended Jordan Dawson whilst Harry Cunningham has suffered a groin injury and will also sit out the contest along with the dropped pair of Kieren Jack and Ben Ronke.
  • Pre-season recruit Hayden McLean will make his debut for the Swans and will feature along with Ryan Clarke, Ryley Stoddart and Robbie Fox with the trio all impressing in the NEAFL last week.

THE PREDICTION

Fremantle are in the midst of a four-match losing streak which has come at a bad time with the race to the finals becoming very intense. They cannot afford to lose any further ground on the teams above them and must return to winning ways here against Sydney Swans. They also look like missing out on the finals as they possess a 6-10 record and are running out of games to them themselves back in contention. Neither side inspire confidence here but preference is just for the home side.
