LAST MEETING
Detroit Lions 24-27 Carolina Panthers
THE LOWDOWN
DETROIT LIONS
Head Coach: Matt Patricia
W/L: 3-6
- Detroit’s poor run of form continued as they fell to defeat at Chicago, the third defeat in a row for the Lions.
- The 34-22 reverse leaves the Lions bottom of the NFC North and in such a strong division, their play-off hopes are fading rapidly.
- The Lions have allowed 244 points against them so far this season, an average of 27.1 points per game which ranks 28th in the NFL.
CAROLINA PANTHERS
Head Coach: Ron Rivera
W/L: 6-3
- Carolina will be looking to right the wrongs of their last game when they were on the receiving end of a heavy loss at Pittsburgh.
- The Panthers came up against a white-hot Steelers side that scored 7 TDs in the 52-21 defeat with RB Christian McCaffrey’s hat-trick of TDs not enough for his side.
- That loss brought to an end Carolina’s three-game winning streak and saw them lose ground on New Orleans at the top of the NFC South with the Panthers two games behind.
THE PREDICTION
Detroit could be on the receiving end of a big score here if Carolina turn up with an intent to avenge their big loss against Pittsburgh last week. The Panthers allowed the Steelers to score 52 points to put a dent in their bid to make the post-season. The Lions will likely have to win-out from this point on if they’re to have any chance and that looks unlikely, especially with the Panthers set to condemn them to a fourth-straight loss.
