Alexander Bublik continued his dominant form as he beat Tristan Schoolkate in straight sets to make round three. Bublik was not broken on serve for the second match running as he won 6-3 6-3 6-3. He has won his last 10 matches overall and has dropped a set in his last six. He served well once again, winning 84% of his first serve points.
He now goes up against Tommy Paul. The American held off a Nuno Borges fightback to win a five set thriller which totalled four hours and 25 minutes. Paul raced to a 3-0 lead in the decider but was pegged back by Borges. However, he broke right at the end of the match after a thrilling rally to win 7-5 6-3 5-7 5-7 7-5.
Paul leads the ATP head-to-head 3-0, and defeated Bublik earlier this year in a tight three set match in Miami. Nevertheless, the Kazakhstani is serving unbelievably well and has enjoyed the best form of his career over the last three months. We give him the edge.
