It will be fascinating to see how the pitch plays at Brian Lara Cricket Academy with the ground having never hosted a test match previously. These are two nations who have struggled badly when it comes to the red ball game in recent times with West Indies in particular having gone through a horrendous slump, winning just one of their last nine tests.
However, the Windies are showing signs of coming out the other end of that slump, beating Sri Lanka by an innings and 217 runs late last month before drawing the second test. Amir Jangoo made headlines for West Indies in that series with a memorable 233. Whilst he missed out in the second test with just 9, Jangoo is a player of promise and comes off the back of a very encouraging ODI series against Bangladesh.
