Vlasto Cepo: “El Chapo” makes his promotional debut
Vlasto Cepo (14-3) arrives into the UFC with a stat that tells you almost everything you need to know: 14 pro wins, not one of them by decision. Ten by knockout, four by submission. The 31-year-old built that record almost entirely inside the Oktagon promotion over the last four years, most recently starching Daniel Schwindt in the first round. He’s a boxing-heavy pressure fighter who fights at full throttle from the opening bell, swinging in volume with little regard for what comes back, set-ups, or accuracy. It’s like watching a bar fight, all gas no breaks.

Gilbert Urbina (7-4) steps up to middleweight for the first time since losing the TUF 29 final to Bryan Battle back in 2021. The 30-year-old is 1-3 in the UFC and has been stopped inside the opening round in his last two fights, picked apart by Charles Radtke in 2024 and then knocked out by the man headlining this very card – Uros Medic in 2025. At 6’3” he’s a long, straight forward pressure striker who works behind his straight shots. Defensively questionable, Urbina doesn’t utilise much head movement.

This is an obvious set-up fight. A debutant with a 100% finishing rate, in his home country, against a man who has been switched off inside the first round in his past two fights. The stylistic read is absolutely brutal. Cepo’s entire game is throwing with bad intentions, with volume from the opening bell, and Urbina’s defensive instinct against a fighter who’s never needed the judges is just about the worst possible combination of habits. Adding to that, he’s moving up in weight, so he’s now against an opponent with more weight behind his shots.
The only thing I can pull here is a puncher’s chance for Urbina. Cepo does swing wildly, and it does leave him open enough to walk into something.
Cepo’s limited skillset will get him fraud checked eventually, his takedown defence is untested, but Urbina isn’t the man to do it. Expect Cepo to find the finish in the first few minutes. This one’s a lock.
