Dennis Buzukja: “The Great” has become a recent stranger to the octagon

Dennis Buzukja (12-6) is 1-4 in the UFC and has managed just one fight since August 2024, and that outing ended badly – Marcio Barbosa wiped him out in 80 seconds in Winnipeg last April. His sole promotional win was a third-round TKO of Connor Matthews back in 2024, and he had pushed Francis Marshall to a competitive split decision after that. Buzukja’s game is compact, disciplined, he boxes behind mainly jabs and left hooks, and is happy to sit in the clinch. His output is fairly low, sometimes waiting too long and gifting rounds away.

Bogdan Grad: “The Unleashed” changes up his routine to fix the slide

Bogdan Grad (15-4) arrives on a two-fight loss streak, though neither loss was one-sided. He dropped a unanimous decision to Muhammad Naimov before Luke Riley caught him with a counter left hook 30 seconds into round two. Crucially, Grad won a round in both fights, and was dominating Riley in the first round before being knocked out in the second. The Austrian is an explosive pressure striker who throws big hooks and heavy overhands with intent, mixing in opportunistic doubles. His defence is the concern, he exits in straight lines and gets caught a lot mid-combination.

Dennis Buzukja vs Bogdan Grad prediction

This is a fight about trajectory. Buzukja looks like a man drifting out of the game, one appearance in almost two years, and a brutal 80-second knockout loss on his comeback, while Grad had three fights in 2025 and changed up his routine to fix what’s broken. After a majority career spent in Austria, he’s since trained in Thailand, Poland, and finished camp at Great Britain Top Team alongside Nathaniel Wood. This is a fighter turning it up, not one winding down.

Stylistically it’s an awkward night for Buzukja. His best asset is a responsible shell and a willingness to grind out the fight, but he gets hit clean when opponents string combinations together rather than single shots, and Grad throws a lot in combination. Buzukja also loses rounds simply by not throwing enough, and Grad’s pace and physicality will bury him on the scorecards if he waits for openings that never come.

Buzukja’s takedown defence is questionable too. He stuffed a lot against Marshall, but Sean Woodson, a rangy striker with no wrestling reputation, put him down without much resistance. Grad only wrestles opportunistically, but against Riley he showed that he can control well when he commits to it.

The caveat to this fight is Grad’s chin and his habit of abandoning what’s working to chase a finish. Buzukja is capable of making him pay for it, but I don’t trust him to be sharp enough after all this time off.

Prediction: Bogdan Grad to win
