Alice Pereira: Will the "Golden Girl" rebound from a tough decision defeat in her debut?

The youngest female fighter in UFC history, things didn’t go exactly to plan for Alice Pereira (5-1) in her debut. “Golden Girl” coughed up a decision and her undefeated record to Montserrat Rendon, a fight that showcased an extremely raw overall game. A high pressure striker with fight ending power in her fists, it’s hard to know what to make of Pereira; she’s clearly a talented prospect, but her wins have come over such mediocre levels of competition that it’s difficult to gauge her potential ceiling against the best female fighters in the world.

Hailey Cowan: "All Hail" looks for her first win under the UFC banner following two consecutive defeats

Winless in two attempts since joining the promotion, Hailey Cowan (7-4) has fought just twice since earning a contract on the Contender Series back in 2022, enduring no less than five separate fight cancellations along the way. Earning her shot at the big leagues after a successful run in LFA, “All Hail” has since dropped back to back results in her UFC tenure to date. She missed weight en route to losing by decision against Jamey-Lyn Horth in her debut, before getting choked out by Nora Cornolle in the second round during her most recent appearance at UFC 314.

Alice Pereira vs Hailey Cowan prediction

This looks to be a much more winnable fight for Pereira than her debut at UFC Noche. Montserrat Rendon might not be the most dangerous finisher that the women’s bantamweight division has to offer, but she was still 7-1 with a UFC win under her belt prior to facing “Golden Girl.”

By contrast, Cowan doesn’t look like she belongs at this level. While she’s had moments of success in her two UFC fights, “All Hail” has still ended up being soundly beaten when all is said and done. The American could conceivably find success if she’s able to drag Pereira to the mat, but she’s largely been pieced up on the feet any time she tries to entertain a striking battle; a foreboding omen when faced with a striker of the Brazilian’s power and aggression.

I think this fight is going to end up looking a lot like Cowan’s loss to Horth; a fight where she ended up on the wrong end of the numbers when it came to volume and the more damaging shots. This could age poorly given that Pereira is completely unproven on the ground and Cowan is ostensibly the best grappler she’s ever faced, but the pick is for “Golden Girl’s” volume and accuracy to still carry her to a decision.

Prediction: Alice Pereira to win by decision
