Jesus Santos Aguilar: Submission specialist always looking for the choke

Jesus Santos Aguilar (11-3) looks to rebound after a decision loss to Rafael Estevam, which snapped the momentum of a three-fight UFC win-streak including a slick first-round submission win over Stewart Nicoll and first-round KO over Shannon Ross. The 29-year-old Mexican holds a 3-2 record in the UFC and has proven himself to be a dangerous grappler, with 64% of his victories coming via submission.

Aguilar is especially known for his aggressive pursuit of the guillotine choke — he must be a fan of Dustin Poirier. He’s physically strong for the flyweight division and maintains solid output, but lacks finishing power on the feet and can make questionable decisions in transitions, often forcing takedowns or submissions at the wrong moment.

Luis Gurule: Ambitious American hunting his first UFC scalp

Luis Gurule (10-1) is still searching for his first UFC win after being stopped by Ode Osbourne in his promotional debut. The 31-year-old American earned his contract with a split decision win over Nick Piccininni on Dana White’s Contender Series, but has yet to make a big impression under the UFC lights.

Gurule brings a mix of volume striking and capable wrestling, though his hand speed is relatively slow for a flyweight. He has knockout power — with half of his wins coming by KO/TKO — but tends to absorb shots in the process.

Jesus Santos Aguilar vs Luis Gurule prediction

Aguilar’s UFC experience and submission threat give him the edge here. He’s consistently shown an ability to put opponents in dangerous positions and has more tools to win rounds — especially if the fight hits the mat. Gurule may land some decent strikes early, but Aguilar’s pressure, crowd support and grappling advantage should be enough to secure the win.

Prediction: Jesus Santos Aguilar to win
