Alessandro Costa: "Nono" returns off a Performance of the Night winning stoppage in his last appearance

Owner of a 2-2 UFC record to date, Alessandro Costa (14-4) has consistently exhibited flashes of elite level talent throughout the course of his UFC tenure. A coiled ball of stocky muscle who throws everything with fight-ending intentions, "Nono's" only two losses in the promotion have come at the hands of elite level flyweights in Amir Albazi and Steve Erceg. Outside of those defeats, Costa has battered Jimmy Flick and Kevin Borjas en route to second round TKO finishes, with both of those stoppages earning the Brazilian Performance of the Night bonuses.

Alden Coria: Joshua Van's stablemate looks to emulate his teammate's levels of success in his UFC debut

4oz. Fight Club representative Alden Coria (10-3, 1 NC) arrives in the promotion facing the daunting task of living up to the example set by his teammate, current top flyweight contender, Joshua Van. "Cobra" fights in a broadly similar manner to Van; he's not the athletic specimen that "The Fearless" is, but he's a well-rounded combatant with slick boxing to complement some underrated wrestling and clinch striking. The 27 year old flyweight has never been finished and rarely likes to leave matters in the judges' hands, scoring eight stoppages in ten professional victories to date.

Alessandro Costa vs Alden Coria prediction

One of the biggest favorites on the card, Costa looks to be the safe choice on paper to walk away with the "W" in this one.

One hand, Coria is undoubtedly a talented fighter, and he does have a history of defying the odds. Paris Moran is an excellent flyweight prospect and he got completely decimated by the 6-1 underdog "Cobra;" marijuana related No Contests be damned. He's not the most explosive flyweight that the sport of MMA has ever seen, but the American is a solid boxer who throws a diverse array of strikes to the head and body with crisp technique.

However, Coria's style means that he tends to absorb a lot of damage throughout his fights, and that could spell doom in front of a man like "Nono." Costa may have lost to the upper echelon at flyweight, but he's tough as nails and has given some of the division's most elite names legitimately difficult moments along the way. "Cobra" unquestionably looks like a UFC caliber fighter, but this is a rough match up for his debut.

Coria will be back stronger in his sophomore appearance, but Costa negates the reach advantage and tees off over three rounds to win a convincing decision.

Prediction: Alessandro Costa to win
