THE PREDICTION

World number 80 Yoshihito Nishioka can be a top 30 talent on any surface on his day with a set of disruptive weapons capable of dismantling even the most powerful players. The 28-year-old reached the round of 16 at Roland-Garros last summer to prove his credentials on this surface but a four-match losing streak coming into Rome suggest this first encounter with Sebastian Ofner is wide open. World number 46 Ofner similarly enjoyed a career-best run to the last 16 in Paris last summer and he successfully transferred that form to the late hardcourt swing. However, the 27-year-old brings a 9-13 record into Rome and a surprising 2-4 record on clay so far this swing to suggest there is a confidence issue with both players here. Three sets seem likelier than two so back the more comfortable clay-courter, Ofner, to earn at least a set to leave this one up to chance.

TIP: SEBASTIAN OFNER TO WIN A SET
