World number 81 Peyton Stearns came back from a set down to beat Aleksandra Krunic on Monday, out-breaking the Serb 7-4 in a competitive clash. The 22-year-old has been working hard to gather some sort of form on clay, dropping down into two recent Challenger events to pick up some good results, ahead of Roland-Garros, where she impressed with a brilliant run to the third round last summer.
World number 62 beat Nuria Brancaccio in straight sets on Monday to get a decent foothold in at the Rabat Open but she will face a much tougher prospect in fellow hard-grafter Stearns.
Both players would prefer this match take place on their favoured hardcourt surface but Wang has claimed, arguably, the better clay results at this level in recent weeks after beating Ana Bogdan in Madrid. Three sets seem likelier than two so back Wang to earn at least one to leave the victor up to chance.
