THE PREDICTION
World number 15 Ugo Humbert won his second ATP 500 title at the Dubai Tennis Championships last month, making it six career titles overall, but he was well-beaten by Tommy Paul in the third round of Indian Wells to come crashing back to Earth. The 25-year-old has won two titles this season after beating Grigor Dimitrov to the Montpellier Open in February and three within the past five months after ending a resurgent 2023 with victory in his home town tournament in Metz.
World number 77 Botic van de Zandschulp overcame some poor recent form to beat Rinky Hijikata on Wednesday but this looks like far too steep of a challenge for the somewhat dormant Dutchman. The 28-year-old set a career-high ATP world ranking of 22nd in 2022 but his form dropped off of a cliff in April of last year after losing the Munich Open final to Holger Rune for a second year on the spin. Humbert needed three sets to beat Van de Zandschulp in their first tour-level encounter last October in Shanghai but he can be backed to take this second clash in two.
TIP: UGO HUMBERT TO WIN 2-0
