THE PREDICTION
This will be a fascinating contest between two players going for their second ATP 500 title here in Dubai, having both won the Halle Open previously. 26-year-old Alexander Bublik enjoyed the best run of his career to the Halle final last summer, beating Andrey Rublev to the title, and he reached the Dubai final with a three-set victory after the Russian was controversially defaulted for aggressive behaviour towards an umpire. The Kazakh will break inside the top 20 for the first time no matter the outcome here but he could rise as high as 16th, whilst world number 18 Ugo Humbert can extend his current career-high to as far as 14th with victory after stunning defending champion Daniil Medvedev in straight sets om Friday.
The Frenchman’s powerful yet deceptively tricky left-handed game has proven the kryptonite of top 10 players of years and he looks ready to become one himself this season, rising from the ashes after dropping out of the top 100 in 2022. Both Bublik and Humbert have recently won ATP 250 titles in Montpellier and Marseille, respectively, but back Humbert to edge this contest based on his remarkable 5-0 record in finals.
TIP: UGO HUMBERT TO WIN
