TAYLOR FRITZ VS THANASI KOKKINAKIS PREDICTION
World number 12 Taylor Fritz has dropped a set in each of his two matches so far at Roland-Garros but two wins over clay specialists Federico Coria and Dusan Lajovic are solid enough at this stage. The 26-year-old is an excellent all-court threat at his best but it has been a frustrating few seasons since he found his peak form in 2022, coming agonisingly close to beating Rafael Nadal in a five-set thriller at Wimbledon that seems to have left its mark since.
World number 100 Thanasi Kokkinakis is a hugely surprising third round participant on his weakest surface but the Aussie has enjoyed a good spell in recent weeks, winning the Sarasota Challenger on green clay in April. The 28-year-old came back from two sets down to stun qualifier Giulio Zeppieri on Thursday, backing-up an upset over fellow Aussie Alexei Popyrin in another five-set marathon, to boost confidence but likely heavily sap his energy reserves.
Kokkinakis has spent just over eight hours on court already this week, almost twice as much as Fritz, and that should prove the main difference here. The pair share a 1-1 head-to-head in which three of four sets played went to a tiebreak so consider adding at least one to an outright win for Fritz.
