TAYLOR FRITZ VS DUSAN LAJOVIC PREDICTION
World number 12 Taylor Fritz came back from a set down to beat clay specialist Federico Coria on Tuesday, winning comfortably in the end after a slow start. The 26-year-old is an excellent all-court threat who brings some solid clay form into Roland-Garros, losing to eventual champion Andrey Rublev in the Madrid semi-finals and then eventual champion Alexander Zverev in the quarter-finals in Rome, but he would certainly prefer faster conditions than the current damp, cool air is providing in Paris.
World number 61 Dusan Lajovic overcame Roman Safiullin in five sets on Monday but the rain delays have allowed him an extra day’s recovery to hopefully allay fatigue fears. The 33-year-old is a quality threat on his favoured clay at his elusive best, famously beating Novak Djokovic and Andrey Rublev to the Banja Luka title last spring, and he beat Fritz in their only previous encounter on the surface in Lyon back in 2018.
Expect sets to go both ways in what could end up a thriller but back Fritz to eventually find a way through.
