THE PREDICTION

This could end up the match of the day between 2018 Paris Masters champion Karen Khachanov and world number six Stefanos Tsitsipas, who secured his place at the ATP Finals with a huge straight-sets victory over Alexander Zverev on Thursday. 25-year-old Tsitsipas has been a shadow of himself ever since finishing runner-up to Novak Djokovic at the Australian Open in January, and arguably ever since his first Grand Slam final ended in defeat to the Serb at Roland-Garros in 2021, but he has finally found some recognisable form here with two impressive results over Zverev and Basel champion Felix Auger-Aliassime. Tsitsipas beat Karen Khachanov in four sets to reach the final in Melbourne but the Russian avenged things at the Miami Open in March to finally get a point on the board in a 6-1 head-to-head deficit to the Greek.

Khachanov came back from a set down to oust Roman Safiullin on Thursday, vanquisher of Carlos Alcaraz the round before, and he will be bang up for this heavy clash in front of fans likely to back him as the underdog. Tsitsipas may struggle for motivation after securing his spot in Turin so taking the Greek to earn at least a set as the likelier of two very capable victors feels sensible here.

BETTING TIP: Stefanos Tsitsipas to win a set.
