THE PREDICTION
This should be a fascinating and likely thrilling clash between world number eight Stefanos Tsitsipas and number 11 Alex de Minaur, with the latter trailing 1-10 in their head-to-head after finally beating the Greek en-route to the Mexican Open title in February. 25-year-old De Minaur had claimed just three sets from Tsitsipas before a straight-sets victory in Acapulco marked his significant improvements over the past two seasons but conditions in Rome better-suit the Greek. Tsitsipas, also 25, found a rare spell of his best tennis to win the Monte-Carlo Masters for a third time last month but he has since laboured to a runners-up finish in Barcelona before a shock exit to Thiago Monteiro in Madrid.
A comeback over Jan-Lennard Struff and a more composed straight-sets win over Cam Norrie so far in Rome suggests Tsitsipas is ready to get back on the horse on his favoured surface but De Minaur came back from a set down to beat in-form Felix Auger-Aliassime on Monday and he will be eager to turn the screw in this surprisingly one-sided head-to-head.
