THE PREDICTION
World number 30 Sebastian Baez avenged his defeat to eventual champion Luciano Darderi in Cordoba last week with an impressive straight sets victory on Thursday. The 23-year-old was stunned by Darderi in the semi-finals to fail to defend his title there, which he won at next opponent Federico Coria’s expense in three sets last season. 31-year-odl Coria also suffered a shock exit in the last four in Cordoba, losing to Facundo Bagnis after an impressive run, but he has bounced back well in Buenos Aires with an excellent upset of his own over second seed Cam Norrie on Thursday. Coria beat Baez in three tight sets at the Bastad Open last summer to level their head-to-head record at 1-1 but the younger Argentine remains the relatively solid favourite to find a way through here. Three sets is certainly an option but backing Baez to earn at least one of them looks the most sensible way to avoid a result.
TIP: SEBASTIAN BAEZ TO WIN A SET
