THE PREDICTION

World number 84 Roberto Bautista Agut claimed his 400th tour win on Wednesday with a comeback over Andrea Vavassori, backing up a solid opener over Roman Safiullin. The 36-year-old former number nine has endured his toughest 12 months on tour for some time but there are some encouraging signs of recovery after some strong results on clay, although this looks a tough ordeal.

World number 31 Cam Norrie announced himself to the tennis world by stunning the Spaniard in five sets in a Davis Cup qualifier back in 2018, on clay, the first of two wins from two in their head-to-head. The 28-year-old has also struggled to find his best tennis over the past 12 or so months, with his last title coming at Carlos Alcaraz’ expense at the Rio 500 last February, and he rode his luck on Tuesday when Harold Mayot was forced to retire injured before the start of their third set. Given Bautista Agut’s trajectory, and the home support he will receive, back the Spaniard to edge this encounter between two players desperately seeking a return to form.

TIP: ROBERTO BAUTISTA AGUT TO WIN
