RICHARD GASQUET VS BORNA CORIC PREDICTION
This is a tough call between former number 12 Borna Coric, who has seriously struggled with his form on clay so far this swing, and popular home veteran Richard Gasquet, who will be backed to the hilt by a partisan crowd.
37-year-old Gasquet reached the quarter-finals of the Estoril Open last month before defeat to eventual runner-up Pedro Martinez but he brings a three-match losing streak into Paris and an overall 2-8 record for what is looking like his final season on tour.
The possibility that this may be his last Roland-Garros will add to the atmosphere here on Suzanne-Lenglen, perhaps boosting Gasquet’s resolve, but Coric is far better than his current deflated ranking of 73rd suggests. The pair share a 1-1 head-to-head record but a first meeting since 2018 might as well be a clean slate on this occasion. Back Gasquet to earn at least a set, empowered by the support, to leave this result well up to chance.
