QINWEN ZHENG VS ELINA AVANESYAN PREDICTION
World number eight Qinwen Zheng has conceded just seven games so far this week to look well capable of breaking her round of 16 personal best effort set here two years ago, where she took a rare set form eventual champion Iga Swiatek.
The 21-year-old finished runner-up to Aryna Sabalenka at the Australian Open in January, changing the course of her already rising career, but she struggled to get back on the horse until a run to the quarter-finals of the Italian Open two weeks ago signalled some resurgence.
World number 70 Elina Avanesyan has conceded just two games more this week to reach the third round at Roland-Garros for the second season running, with her brilliant debut last 16 exit here last summer ended by eventual runner-up Karolina Muchova.
The Russian, also 21, brought next to no form into Paris but she clearly has an affinity with the conditions that make this a tough call in their first encounter. Tentatively back Zheng to win outright or take the Chinese to earn at least a set inside an accumulator.
