PEYTON STEARNS VS DARIA KASATKINA PREDICTION
22-year-old Peyton Stearns won her maiden WTA title at the Rabat Open last week with a series of battling three-set comebacks and she scraped through another one on Tuesday, claiming her sixth win on the spin 10-8 in the decider against qualifier Lucija Ciric-Bagaric.
The American reached the round of 16 at the US Open last summer to prove herself a serious up-and-comer but she has been unfortunate to once again draw world number 13 Daria Kasatkina, who has knocked her out of two of her last four Grand Slams – including a hammering in the third round here last year.
27-year-old Kasatkina avoided a potential banana skin with a straight-sets victory over Magdalena Frech on Tuesday and the Russian is at her best in slow conditions, preferring to redirect her opponents’ power than generate her own.
Kasatkina reached the semi-finals here two seasons ago, and the quarter-finals in 2018, to prove her pedigree at Roland-Garros and she can be backed to edge a more competitive rematch with Stearns here.
