PAVEL KOTOV VS STAN WAWRINKA PREDICTION
Former world number three Stan Wawrinka genuinely rolled back the years with a vintage performance over out-of-sorts old foe Andy Murray, beating the Brit in straight sets before an emotional discussion at the net. The fact that the 39-year-old is eve playing at all considering the injuries he has endured in recent years is astounding in itself but if he can maintain the tennis that he found on Sunday, occasionally reminiscent of his robust best, he should be able to make a few rounds yet before running out of steam.
25-year-old Pavel Kotov has youth on his side but possibly not as much as energy as he should after a marathon five-set victory over Cam Norrie on Monday. The Russian will set a new career-high ATP world ranking of around 53rd for his efforts so far but recent exits to Sebastian Ofner, Ben Shelton and Alexander Bublik on clay suggest he could struggle to play through the 2015 champion – particularly as Wawrinka enjoys home-from-home support here in Paris. Back the Swiss to win outright.
