THE PREDICTION

Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova was in a proper tussle with Ana Bogdan on Thursday but the Czech made it seven-straight victories on grass with a straight-sets result. The former world number two won the Eastbourne International last weekend, playing herself into proper form for the first time in well over a year, and she will be a bigger danger to the title with each passing round. World number four Paula Badosa is yet to drop a set this week at Wimbledon but the Spaniard has enjoyed a kind draw so far, beating qualifier Louisa Chirico before taking out Irina Bara on Thursday.

The 24-year-old is a superb all-courter who enjoyed a huge breakthrough last season with runs to the quarter-finals at Roland-Garros and round of 16 here before a first Masters title win at Indian Wells in October. However, grass remains the Spaniard’s weakest surface due to inexperience more than anything and she has struggled to reach her very best level in recent months. Kvitova is a really tough draw at this stage of the tournament and she will be well-backed as a popular player in these parts. The 32-year-old won their first encounter back in 2020 at the Australian Open and she can be backed to come through this the outright winner.
