NOVAK DJOKOVIC VS YANNICK HANFMANN PREDICTION
World number one Novak Djokovic will face Yannick Hanfmann on his birthday on Wednesday, with the German handing him an early present in beating old foe Andy Murray in the first round. The world number 85 beat the returning Murray in comfortable straight sets, either side of a severe weather delay, to earn his first meeting with Djokovic and he will never have a better chance at defeating the Serb, who suffered a shock early exit in Rome.
Djokovic’s decision to play an ATP 250 event this close to Roland-Garros is a significant one, he clearly feels that he is unable to win a fourth French Open with his current form on clay, and he will be desperate to make short work of this campaign in Geneva. It is highly rare to see the soon-to-be 37-year-old reach this stage of a season without winning a title but the last time he did so was 2018, which did not end up too badly at all with Grand Slam titles won at Wimbledon and the US Open. Hanfmann is an excellent clay-court specialist at his best but Djokovic, with a point to prove, should have far too much for the German. Back the top seed to win in straight sets.
