THE PREDICTION

25-year-old Taylor Fritz moved back up to a career-high ATP world ranking of eighth after a run to the semi-finals of the Geneva Open this week was ended in three sets by Grigor Dimitrov. The US number one reached the quarter-finals at Wimbledon last summer to set his career-best Grand Slam run but he is yet to make it past the third round here in Paris. Fritz is one of the better all-courters on tour, though, and this looks a relatively kind opener against fellow American Michael Mmoh, who has not played since suffering an injury at the Mexican Open back in March. World number 123 Mmoh set a career-high ATP world ranking of 82nd in February after upsetting Alexander Zverev at the Australian Open to make the third round and it will be interesting to see if he can rediscover that level after a particularly inopportune injury. This looks way too steep of a challenge for now, though, so back Fritz to win in straight sets.
