Jasmine Paolini vs Jelena Ostapenko prediction

Jasmine Paolini will aim to channel the energy of the Italian support as she targets a maiden victory over Jelena Ostapenko. 

The sixth seed was simply too consistent and solid for the enigmatic Ons Jabeur as she looks to become the first woman from her country to lift the title here since Raffaella Reggi in 1985.

Ostapenko offers a hugely significant threat to that bid with the Latvian’s high-paced, relentless attack off both wings likely to test the plucky Paolini’s slice defence to its limits. 

The former French Open champion has won both of their previous meetings, including a straight sets victory in Doha earlier this year.  

The match will no doubt be played on Ostapenko’s racket and if she maintains her red-lining level long enough she may well be too strong for the diminutive Italian again.
