THE PREDICTION

World number 22 Jelena Ostapenko overcame 13th seed Beatriz Haddad-Maia in three entertaining sets on Saturday to back-up a solid opener over Mirjam Bjorklund and she could be the dark horse at this so far unpredictable Miami Open. The 25-year-old is yet to win a Masters title but she of course claimed the biggest prize at Roland-Garros back in 2017, her first of five WTA titles. World number 24 Martina Trevisan is the surprise entrant in the round of 16 of the Miami Open after coming back from a set down to beat Claire Liu on Saturday. The Italian is an incredible clay-courter who won her first WTA title on the surface at the Rabat Open last summer and she will be eagerly awaiting a return to the clay next month after making the semi-finals of Roland-Garros last season. The 29-year-old is proving hard to discount in recent weeks but realistically Ostapenko should be too powerful in these conditions. Back the Latvian to win in two.
