World number 86 Marie Bouzkova has played more doubles than singles in recent months but the 23-year-old Czech continues to search for the searing form she started 2021 with. Bouzkova beat Bianca Andresscu this time last season to reach the final of the Phillip Island Trophy and she made the semi-finals of the Guadalajara Open soon after before losing to eventual champion Sara Sorribes Tormo. She looks the slight favourite in this first meting with Rebecca Marino, although the Canadian brings the better form with her from a successful qualifying campaign in which she took out eighth seed Kamila Rakhimova. The 31-year-old beat Madison Keys and Paula Badosa last season at her home Canadian Open for two shock results but she has failed to win a tour-level match since. This is tight but take Bouzkova to win at least a set as the likelier of two capable winners.
