MARIANO NAVONE VS TOMAS MACHAC PREDICTION
Tomas Machac and Mariano Navone, both 23 years old, have enjoyed their best seasons yet on tour. Navone has especially burst onto the scene in 2024, finishing runner-up at the Rio Open and Bucharest Open before claiming the Cagliari Challenger earlier this month, and he could break inside the top 30 for the first time after coming back from a set down to beat the returning Pablo Carreno Busta on Tuesday.
Machac has been around a lot longer than the Argentine but he has evolve dover the past nine or so months, with last week’s three-set victory over Novak Djokovic well-earned en-route to second place at the Geneva Open. The Czech can set a career-high ATP world ranking of around 33rd after beating Nuno Borges in straight sets on Tuesday and that is an impressive result given the disappointment of losing his first tour final last weekend.
Navone is the more comfortable clay-courter of the two but Machac seems to possess the higher ceiling, although slow conditions in cold weather in Paris will probably suit the Argentine’s clay sensibilities more. Back Navone to win at least two sets or consider a one-off on this match seeing five.
