31-year-old Anastasija Sevastova set a career-high WTA world ranking of 11th back in 2018 and she won the last of her total four WTA titles a year later at the Jurmala Open at home in Latvia. She faces world number 53 Magda Linette for a first time at tour level in one of the tougher first round matches to call with neither player bringing much form into the tournament. Sevastova has a win this season with a straight-sets victory over Caroline Garcia at Melbourne 1 whilst Linette’s only match in 2022 so far was a straight-sets defeat to Alison Riske. There are probably three sets in this one so taking Sevastova to earn at least one of them seems a reasonable option here but you could just as easily sit this one out.
