THE PREDICTION

World number nine Ons Jabeur won her most prestigious of five WTA titles here two years ago and she is clearly enjoying the conditions with some tentatively encouraging results so far. The 29-year-old has endured a tough time this season, with a series of injury setbacks seeing her miss the majority of the Middle Eastern swing, but a return to natural surfaces over the next few months has so far looked welcome after she blasted past Jelena Ostapenko on Monday.

World number 20 Madison Keys is similarly enjoying a return to form after missing the first two months of 2024 through injury. The American, also 29, overcame third seed Coco Gauff in three tight sets on Monday to string three wins together for the first time since making the semi-finals of the US Open last summer – where she took the first set from eventual runner-up Aryna Sabalenka before edging out in two tiebreaks. Jabeur leads their head-to-head 2-0 without yet dropping a set to Keys but this should be their tightest clash yet in conditions that suit both, although the Tunisian’s affinity with the crowd and court hand her an advantage. Back Jabeur to earn at least a set as the likelier of two very capable victors.

TIP: ONS JABEUR TO WIN A SET
