The 28-year-old looked a dark horse for the title coming in after her excellent run to the semi-finals of the US Open in second-most recent tournament but she should improve in this now vital second match against Caroline Garcia. World number 20 Garcia set a career-high of fourth late last season after winning the WTA Finals, capping off an incredible second-half to 2022, but 2023 has not been nearly as kind.
