23-year-old Alejandro Davidovich Fokina set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 24th this week after some excellent recent form across the Sunshine Double and this clay swing could be very fruitful for the Spaniard. ADF is yet to win an ATP title but he finished runner-up to Stefanos Tsitsipas at the Monte-Carlo Masters last April to prove his ability on this surface and he looks the favourite for the title this week in Estoril. 18-year-old Luca Van Assche set a new career-high ATP world ranking of 91st this week after winning the Sanremo Challenger, backing up another Challenger title in Pau last month, and he is currently the youngest player inside the top 100. The Frenchman came back from a set down to beat home hopeful Pedro Sousa on Tuesday and he should be better for the early scare in this first meeting with Davidovich Fokina. It is hard to back the Spaniard to the hilt given his penchant for high-percentage shots in key moments but back ADF to win outright here in a match that is certainly tougher than it looks.
