THE PREDICTION

World number four Jannik Sinner avenged his defeat to Ben Shelton in three sets at the Shanghai Masters with a straight-sets victory on Wednesday. The 22-year-old won his maiden Masters title in Toronto back in August and a 52-14 record at this stage of the season will see him safely through to his full ATP Finals debut next month – having come in as an alternate in 2021. This is the fourth meeting between Sinner and Lorenzo Sonego, likely Davis Cup partners next month, this season and the younger Italian has won all three encounters to look set for the quarter-finals. 28-year-old Sonego is riding a second wind well so far after overcoming Francisco Cerundolo in three sets as a lucky loser from qualifying but Sinner should be considered a title contender here in Vienna. Back the second seed to win outright.

BETTING TIP: Jannik Sinner to win.
